1932 Ford Roadster
It was an honor and surprise to have my 1932 Ford Roadster picked as the Senior First Place Winner at this years Adirondack Nationals Car Show. I am honored to be given this very prestigious award. When the awards ceremony was just about over, I headed to my car thinking that my 1932 Roadster was not going to receive anything additional. I was only a few feet from my car when the winning number was called. Looking up at my registration sticker, I realized that it was my number! I instantly turned and yelled "Over here!" as I ran back to the awards ceremony. I was truly amazed. It had been raining on and off all day and I had spent most of it covering, drying and re-covering the car. Winning that award made a damp day into a wonderful shining experience.
The vehicle was purchased from Marty Harp, owner of Hot Hues Division of Dupont Paints. The vehicle was on display at the July 2007 Syracuse Nationals under the Hot Hues tent. I was totally admiring the car when I noticed a small business card on the seat saying "For Sale". I inquired immediately as to the price. When hearing the price, I then asked "does that include the engine and tranny" as it was an unbelievable deal. I was told it did, and it only took us ten minutes to purchase this car. We both looked around the car and decided that it was all we were looking for in a Roadster. In the past, every one we looked at had something that was not totally appealing to us but this Roadster had it all. It was meant to be ours. Of course, we did show the car to our daughter, Rebecca, for her approval as well since she has been attending car shows with us sine the age of 5 months, now being 11 years old. She tends to express her true feelings about the cars and this one met with her approval as well. That closed the deal.
The vehicle had to stay with Hot Hues for a couple of months as it was to already be on display at several additional shows during the summer. Then after the season was over we picked it up in Ohio from Marty Harp. The vehicle has a 350 Chevy Engine with a 350 Turbo, Curry Rear End, Custom Hand Sewn Leather Interior, Mercedes Benz Copper Paint with Custom Hand applied Flames by Marty Harp. The vehicle has Marty's signature on the dash which makes it truly one of a kind.
Again, we would like to thank Albany Rods & Kustoms for continually providing a wonderful event every year which is enjoyed by everyone.
