1931 Chevrolet Sports Coupe
We would like to take this time to thank all those included in the Albany Rods and Kustoms car club and the Adirondack Nationals staff for selecting our 1931 Chevy sport coupe to be your senior 1st place winner.
The story begins here; I found the coupe nearly a decade ago in an old barn. When we pulled the car out of the barn, I found out that it had 88,000 original miles on it, that the car had been sitting in the barn for 52 years, and that I have only been the cars third owner since 1931. I knew when I gazed upon the car; it would be a great build as a street rod since it was 100% in tact. After bringing the car back home, the transformation began immediately.
The modifications began with a 2 inch chop of the roof, and I channeled 5 inches in the front to give it a California rake. I put a 9 inch ford rear with a 4 link suspension coil over, then put an I-beam axle in the front with a 4 inch drop with a 4 link suspension. Afterwards, I installed a 350 transmission with a shift kit and I put a regular 350 engine in, with about 350 Horsepower. Following that, I installed a tri-power carburetor system on top of the engine. Ending i did the final touches which include making the custom exhaust system that I call “cat-wiskers” and the custom paint job with the checkers, done by my son Justin Baker.
Again, we would like to thank Albany Rods & Kustoms for an amazing year.
